Weekly Players Update: Results from the ITF, Challenger, and Junior circuits.

These players recently competed in multiple ITF, Challenger, and Junior tournaments.

The past weeks brought a busy schedule for our friends and players across ITF, Challenger and Junior tournaments, with matches played on clay courts around Europe and South America.

Lia Karatancheva

Competed in two W50 events. At W50 Haskovo, she opened with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Valeria Garnevska before losing in the second round to Cagla Buyukakcay, 6-3, 6-3. She then moved to W50 Gdansk, where she started qualifying with a strong 6-0, 6-1 win over Gabriela Gregorczyk and will next face Lucie Urbanova.

Andreea Kurta

Had a solid week at J60 Bistrița. In singles, she defeated Anna-Sophia Andrei 6-1, 6-1 before falling to Yeva Husieva, 6-3, 6-1. In doubles, together with Delia Maria Loghin, she lost in the opening round to Eva Maria Bulai and Giulia Luchetti, 6-3, 6-2. Kurta now continues at J60 Timișoara, where she faces Olimpia Jagodzinska in the first round.

Maria Herazo

Reached the quarter-finals at W15 Luque in Paraguay. She defeated Agustina Soto Neira 6-3, 6-4 and Mariangel Estrella 6-2, 6-2 before losing to Maria Florencia Urrutia, 6-4, 6-4. This week, she continues at W15 Asunción, opening against Ana Carmen Zamburek.

Evita Ramírez

Competed at W15 Dinard in France. After receiving a first-round bye in qualifying, she faced Carla Grignac in the second round and was defeated 6-1, 6-1.

Mia Horvit

Continued her clay-court campaign in Kuršumlijska Banja. Last week, she defeated Ena Ilić 6-4, 6-1 before narrowly losing to Amelie Justine Hejtmanek, 6-2, 2-6, 7-6(8). This week, she opens singles against Vlada Kozak, while in doubles she partners Mariya Yemshanova against Andjela Colic and Katya Ramirez.

Ziya Ayberk Aydin

Competed at J60 Bistrița, where he faced Eduard Dragomir in the first round. Aydin started strongly by taking the opening set, but Dragomir came back to win 1-6, 6-2, 6-3.

Miruna Rita Neculaes

Also competed in Bistrița. In singles, she lost in the opening round to Riana Rusnackova, 6-2, 6-2. In doubles, partnering Amalia-Sofia Nicoli, she reached the quarter-finals after a 5-7, 6-4, 10-6 win over Iasmina Filip and Bianca Maria Mihaila. Their run ended against Yelyzaveta Huchko and Riana Rusnackova, 6-4, 6-4. Neculaes now continues at J60 Timișoara, where she opens against Mina Markovic.

Cezar Stefan Simion

Continued his ITF Junior clay-court campaign in Romania, competing in both singles and doubles at J60 events. In singles, he played at J60 Bistrița, where he pushed David Ioan Arcip to a tight opening-set tiebreak before falling 7-6(6), 6-1. He then moved on to J60 Timișoara, facing Patrik David Boldut in qualifying and losing 6-1, 7-5. In doubles at J60 Bistrița, Simion partnered with Mihai Vlad Rosu-Mares in the main draw after receiving a wildcard entry. The pair battled in the opening round but were defeated by Matej Kukrika and Matei Sucu, 7-5, 6-2.

Oleg Prihodko

Continued competing on the professional clay-court circuit. At the Prostějov ATP Challenger 100, he recorded a solid opening-round qualifying victory over Michal Krajci, 6-3, 6-4, before narrowly missing out on a place in the main draw after a hard-fought battle against Jan Kumstat, 4-6, 7-6(10), 6-2. This week, Prihodko moves to M25 Zagreb, where he begins his campaign in the main draw against Slovenia’s Vid Mohar. With valuable Challenger-level experience behind him, he looks to carry his momentum into another important week of competition on clay.

Overall, it was another active and valuable period of competition, with several strong wins, close matches and new opportunities ahead on the ITF and Junior circuits.
