Barcelona Basket Academy Welcomes Coach Francesc Perarnau Grau
With more than 35 years of experience and a successful international career, Francesc joins us to enhance the development of our players with his vision, leadership, and passion for basketball.
The Barcelona Basket Academy is pleased to announce the addition of Francesc Perarnau Grau to our esteemed coaching staff. With over 35 years of experience as a player developer, organizational leader, and international coach, Francesc brings extensive knowledge, passion, and proven success to our academy, most recently leading Club Baloncesto Felinos in the Yucatán youth leagues.
A recognized leader in youth development
Since 1989, Francesc has dedicated his career to fostering young talent and building winning programs. Career highlights include:
- Club Bàsquet Andorra (1989-1997): Laid the foundations of his coaching philosophy by working with youth teams.
- Spanish Clubs (1997-present): Key experience at Bàsquet Girona, Akasvayu Girona, Lleida, and local clubs such as C.B. Maspalomas and C.B. Sant Feliu.
- Educational Institutions: Provided specialized coaching at La Salle Bonanova, I.E. Menéndez Pidal, Colegio Amurga (within C.B. Canarias), British School Barcelona, and Colegio Público de Mérida in Yucatán.
- Mexico (2022-present): Assistant coach of Halcones de Xalapa; Current coordinator of the Yucatán U-14 to U-17 women's national teams; and head coach of the women's team of the Felinos de Yucatán Club, founded in 2010.

Role in the Barcelona Basketball Academy
In his new role, Francesc will lead and support our youth development programs for the men's and women's teams. His international perspective and organizational experience will help us:
- Strengthen our coaching curriculum for youth ages 8 to 18.
- Improve competitive preparation for regional and national tournaments.
- Guide our coaching staff through clinics, workshops, and individualized guidance.
- Develop pathways that facilitate the transition of our top prospects to professional environments.

- Experience: More than 35 years as a basketball coach and sports manager.
- Certifications: FEB/FIBA Superior Coach Level II; advanced courses in sports leadership, event management, and officiating.
