This Week’s Results and Tournament Updates from Our Barcelona Sports Academy Players
The players from Barcelona Sports Academy Tennis have had an intense week competing in different tournaments.
It was another busy week for our academy players, with many of them competing across ITF Junior and ITF World Tennis Tour events in Europe. From strong runs to upcoming first-round matches, our players continue to gain valuable experience and show great commitment on court.
Ziya Ayberk Aydin had an excellent week at the J30 Izmir tournament in Turkey. After coming through the qualifying draw, Ziya continued his strong form in the main draw and reached the final. On his way, he recorded several impressive wins, including a tough three-set victory in the semi-final. Although he finished as runner-up after losing to Italy’s Elia Ruffino in the final, it was a fantastic tournament and a great step forward in his development.
Andreea Kurta is competing this week at the J60 Les Franqueses del Vallès tournament in Spain. She will play in the main draw on hard court, where she is set to face Laia Pinsach Hidalgo from Spain in the first round.
Matilda Cabrera Burns competed at the J60 Lleida tournament in Spain. Playing in the main draw on clay, Matilda faced Shangran Cai from China in the first round. She started strongly, winning the opening set 6–4, before the match ended with a retirement while she was trailing 1–4 in the second set. It was an unfortunate end to the tournament, but she showed a strong level on court.
Maja Maksimowicz competed at the J30 Tallinn tournament in Estonia. Maja played in the qualifying draw on clay and received a bye in the first round. In the second round, she faced Eva-Maria Adamchuk from Estonia, losing a close match 4–6, 5–7.
Julia Adams is competing this week in doubles at the W75 Kosice tournament in Slovakia. Julia will play in the main draw doubles event on clay, partnering with Dominika Pirohova from Slovakia. In the first round, they are set to face the German team of Tayisiya Morderger and Yana Morderger.
Mia Horvit is competing this week at the W35 Bol tournament in Croatia. Mia will play in the qualifying draw on clay, where she received a bye in the first round. In the second round, she is set to face Victoria Borodulina.
Gwendolyn Fedel is competing this week at the J200 Targu Jiu tournament in Romania. Gwendolyn will play in the main draw on clay, where she is set to face Ireland O’Brien from the United States in the first round.
Cezar Stefan Simion competed at the J30 Vadul lui Voda tournament in Moldova. Cezar played in the qualifying draw on clay, facing Dmytro Bespalyi from Ukraine in the first round. It was a very close battle, with Cezar taking the opening set 7–6(2) before his opponent came back to win the second set 6–4 and the match tiebreak 10–8.
